28/03/2010 - Rick Wright - Malaga v Indalo BC & Spain Squads

Good evening John,

It was good to see you again and to bowl against you, thanks for an enjoyable game. The diatribe below is for either the Forum, Events or wherever you think even if it's the shredder!!!

Many bowlers who have followed this site over the years may remember, sometime ago it was suggested that practice for the National squad could be gained by playing against Provincial teams. Recently Indalo Bowls Club had the pleasure of hosting just such an event. It gets even better though because as host club we were able to play against both the Provincial and the National teams. This allowed the visitors a chance to get used to our green before they put on the main event which was Spain V Malaga Province. The result was four days of  excellent bowling for the visitors the Indalo club bowlers and for the spectators. Bad weather on the morning of day three did nothing to dampen the spirits.

I would like to say thanks very much to all concerned with the organizing of this event and bringing it to our club. Thanks also to our club members who put in so much effort to make the whole event enjoyable.

I am sure there will be an official report elsewhere, perhaps on Pat Metcalfe's  National Squad site. I do hope the visitors got as much out of it as we did, thanks again.

Rick Wright.

Thanks, Rick, for the message - I equally enjoyed the experience and consider it a great privilage to have been permitted to play against  bowlers from Indalo BC & the National squad. I hope that both of the latter got as much out of the experience as we all did in the Malaga squad.

John Carr - Webmaster.
