First Skills Improvement Session at La Posada BC

July 2011 - La Posada BC

Report by John Carr & photo by Eileen Alves

At the invitation of Eileen Alves, Club Captain, John Carr, Coordinator for Malaga province Instructors Group, ran the first session in July of intensive training for bowlers at the recently opened La Posada BC, situated near Antequera. The weather was hot and very challenging, but not too hot to melt the enthusiasm of large group of participants that turned out.

The subjects included: Casting the Jack, Improving Weight, Using other bowls in the head, Improving Line and exposure to some of the more important Laws & Etiquette of the game of Lawn Bowls. John managed to ease the problems of excessive heat by holding discussions under shade between each drill. Volunteer Rink Controllers did an excellent job.

The attendees included Eileen Alves, Jeff Rowe, Janis Rowe, Dave Way, Bill Hill, Marion Robinson, Stuart Robinson, Peter Williams, Jean Williams, Lou Edwards, Geoff Gooding, Maureen Fewings, John Fewings, Christine Ennever, Ted Grover, Jan Grover, Ann Pinnock, Sylvia Briody, Roy Davies, Margaret Cummins & Maureen Edwards. All agreed that the session had been well worthwhile and John agreed to return to this happy club in the near future. He also wished La Posada BC, led by Eileen Alves, good luck in the upcoming winter league season.
