Ladies & Gents' 2 Wood Pairs

April 2018 - Mijas BC

Report by Carol Wright, photo editing  by Amber Dineen & John Carr.

Thursday 12th April was the first day starting with the Gents. 10 teams in the morning finishing the day with 4 winning teams ready for the semi final next day.

Friday 13th livid up to its reputation unlucky for some and it certainly was unlucky for the competition as it poured with heavy rain and bowling was cancelled to next day.

Saturday 14th in the morning the Ladies played their games in lovely sunshine followed by the semi finals of both Ladies and Gents.

Later in the afternoon we had the Finals Tom Rogers and Bill Gregory Santa Maria Club against Peter Allard and John Wilson Mijas Bowls Club.A very exciting game really good bowling touch and go each end with Tom and Bill winning on the last end.

Ladies Final was between Linda Hall and Dine Warn Santa Maria Club against

Sheila Wilson and Pat Baker Mijas Bowls Club. Good game but Linda and Dine found the green better with Sheila and Pat retiring on the 17th end.

After handing out to the Finalists and Winners the Cup and Plaques Roberto Wright thanked all Mijas members who worked in the kitchen and behind the bar. Tom Rogers also said a few words thanking  Roberto and his team for putting on such an enjoyable competition.

If you would like to take up lawn green bowling or you are already a bowler and would like to join Mijas Bowls Club please contact us
