10/01/2009 - Latest News of New Bowling Club at Lauro Golf, Alhaurin de la Torre

Ken Talbot

I am pleased to report that the Bowls Green is at last moving forward again.

The original surface never was put right, and it has now been dug up and replaced with a reinforced concrete sub base and a self leveling porous concrete top surface laid by Beravi SL,   a very experienced company with a first class reputation, based in the Alicante area. I have to say that it now has a superb finish.

Dales will be coming on the 19th January to lay the carpet, a five day job I understand, so by the 24th it should be all ready to go.

The pavilion has already been fitted out and is also just about ready to go.

However, Sad to say, I now have a timing problem which I would never have thought to be a problem when we booked it.

My wife needs to be in the UK for an operation towards the end of January and we will not be back in Spain until about the 4th/5th February. I am therefore thinking that we will hold an Open Weekend on 7th/8th February when everybody can come and see the club, try out the surface and maybe share a glass of wine with us. So provisionally put those dates in your diaries and I will confirm a little nearer the time.

There is no reason why the club will not be up and running from then onwards, although we will not be having an ‘Official Opening’ for a week or two, when we can find a suitable date in the diaries.

Regards,

Ken Talbot
