Pam Martin:
9 March 1950 – 16 September 2009

A tribute by Chris Dedman - on behalf of Indalo Bowling Club

What a great bowler, both in the UK and in Spain, with a great personality always cheerful and ready for a laugh and a joke and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In the UK Pam played for Middlesex County, she played in the Johns Trophy (the biggest outdoor Team trophy) and also reached the finals in the English National Pairs at Leamington along with her friends from her club.                     .

In Spain, Pam joined Indalo in 2003. She was runner up for the FAB Pairs cup in 2003 at Cabrera.  Pam won the club singles in 2005 and runner up in 2008.  She won the Ladies Club Pairs three times, 2005, 2006 and 2008.  In 2007 Pam, then Captain of the Musketeers, struggled during the first part of the League to get full teams out but managed to win the League that year, this mainly due to hard work and a lot of coaxing to get people to play.  She has also coordinated the result sheets for the League. At the 2008 Nationals, Pam was in the ladies fours from Indalo who got through to the semi’s and also the quarter finals of the trips.  In October 2008 at Cabrera, she won the OMM filling in at the last minute for John & Debbie Colquhoun.

She was the FAB Treasurer, organised membership for Indalo club members and numerous Federation Dinner Dances.

Pam was full of fun, always ready to help anyone and do things at the club.  One of the last things she did was to make new covers for the scoreboards.  Another we will remember her for was the Irish Bingo game we all played on Ladies v Gents day.  She used to get Mal Holmes to clean her woods, saying that she played even better then.  Maggie said when playing with Pam, she always remembers having to look for her when telling her where to bowl her wood in their pairs games, as she used to disappear off the rink and Maggie left talking to herself which created fits of laughter with the rest of the bowlers.

When I first joined Indalo it was Pam who helped me to settle in at Indalo and to get used to the way things were done in Spain.

I would like to send her family our heartfelt thanks for allowing us to be part of her life and our sorrow for their loss, I know she loved them all very much and always talked about them.  We had a common bond in as much as Pam has twin grandchildren and so do we.

Rest In Peace Pam, We Really Will Miss You.
