La Posada Braves V Miraflores Hurricanes

La Posada BC

Oct. 2016

Report by Grant Frost

The league season for bowling is now in full swing and yesterday in the Lions league Miraflores Hurricanes had  the opportunity to travel to a warm and sunny Alameda near Antequera to play the newest team in this league for their first home game which was a close fought affair resulting in a win to Miraflores by 6 points to 4. Although this was a long trip for us we must bear in mind that we only have to do it once, but they must travel to the coast every week, it was a beautiful drive through lovely scenery and made a very pleasant change to the N340! We wish them every success for the rest of the season and hope they enjoy the experience for many years to come.

As is usual at this time of year we are fast approaching the largest open bowls competition on the coast the "Miraflores Open". This year we are delighted to have 2 major sponsors in place, namely Ibex Insurance and Solar in Spain both of whom will have representatives on site to answer questions about their companies to both players and spectators. The event starts on Saturday 12th November and runs through to Sunday 20th. Entrants do not need to belong to a club as the competition is open to all, there are 3 disciplines: Mixed Triples, Mixed Pairs & Men's and Ladies' Singles. The closing date for entries is Friday 4th November and they can either be made via the poster which should be on display at every club on the coast or by email to dine@andover.co.uk. Entry fees are 8 per person per discipline, payable at the club on arrival.

Spectators are welcome at all times and we have a fully stocked bar with food available to satisfy everybody's needs. Sunday 20th November which is finals day will feature all 4 finals and is normally a very popular event for spectators, especially the post final presentations and scorecard draw with prizes from local businesses for all entrants who are present, don't miss it!!
